Time

Lykert records time as you work. This page shows where to see it, how to correct it and how it behaves across organizations.

Time starts when you start a task. Choose Start on the Now card, and the clock runs until you Finish, Park or Leave the task.

To switch to something else, press T. The switcher opens with a search box (Switch to…). Type a project, a task or a category and pick a result. To track something that is not a project or task, type it and choose Track “what you typed”. You can turn that time into a task later. See Tasks and handoff.

The switcher also has an optional line, Add a one-line summary…, for saying what you did.

Open Time from the sidebar. It lists your time as a day ledger. Choose the range with the date range control: Today, This week, Last week or Custom. You can filter by Project.

Each row has these columns:

  • Duration
  • Context: the project and task, or the category
  • Summary
  • Activity
  • Billable: Default, Yes or No
  • Completeness: Complete, Missing task, Missing summary or Missing context
  • Source: where the time came from, shown as an icon. Point at it to see the word: web, desktop, mobile, cli, wp, imported or logged

Each row is one time entry, which the app calls an interval. Select a row to open it beside the ledger. You can change its Context, Summary, Billable, Start and End. The other buttons are:

  • Split divides an interval at a time you enter in Split at.
  • Merge with previous and Merge with next join neighbors.
  • Reclassify as break and Reclassify as work change what the interval is.
  • Delete removes it.
  • Mark reviewed confirms a row. It is available once the row is complete. Until then it says Interval is incomplete.

Choose Log time on the Time page. Enter the Date, Start, End, Context, Summary, Activity and Billable, then choose Log time. The end must come after the start, and it cannot be in the future.

Choose Review day to open Today’s review. It lists what is still missing a task, summary or context, and says Today’s time accounted for when nothing is left. Open full review takes you to the ledger.

At the end of your day, a bar asks Wrap up today? Choose Wrap up to review the day, or Later to dismiss it. If earlier days still have unresolved time, Lykert says You have unresolved time from earlier days. and offers Review.

You set when your day ends under Account, Time: End of day and Timezone.

You have one clock, even when you belong to several organizations. Each stretch of time belongs to the project it was tracked on, so it counts toward that project’s organization.

Apps that Lykert has approved can ask to work with your time. No other app can ask.

When one asks, the Authorize access page names the app and asks you to pick the Organization it will act for. Under Access level, choose how much it may do:

  • Read tasks and time
  • Read tasks and time, and capture tasks
  • Capture tasks and track time

Each option lists what it grants underneath. The time permissions read Read your time in this organization and Track and edit your time in this organization. Only Capture tasks and track time lets an app track and edit time. The page shows only the options that app is allowed to ask for.

An organization can turn some options off for an app. Those options are greyed out. If it turns off all of them, Allow is off and the page says: “This organization does not allow any of these access levels for this app, so Allow is off. Choose another organization or Deny.” Choose another organization or Deny. Otherwise choose Allow.

An app you allow is tied to the one organization you chose. It can see and change time on that organization’s projects. It cannot read time you tracked on other organizations’ projects.

Starting a timer from such an app stops whatever was running. Stopping from the app only stops time that belongs to its organization.

To see which apps you have allowed, or to remove one, open Account, Security and find Connected apps. Choose Revoke next to an app to remove its access.
